Beyond the Classroom: Expanding Postsecondary Internships and Other Forms of Experiential Learning, 2023, Florida Council of 100, Beyond-the-Classroom
Experiential learning (e.g., internships teaching assistantships, formal research conducted outside of the classroom, volunteering, and study abroad), at state universities is a clear differentiator as employers assess talent. Increasing access to these programs and better preparing students to communicate this work to prospective employers will begin to erode the talent gap.

The NAEP Civics Assessment- 2022 Civics Scores Decline for First Time
In 2022, the average civics score at eighth grade decreased by 2 points compared to 2018. The average score in 2022 was not significantly different from 1998, the first year the assessment was given. The average score is reported on the NAEP civics scale, which ranges from 0 to 300.
